Mr Čiga is an experienced mountaineer willing to afford his guest a one day climb to the peak St. Nicholas at 626 m above the sea. The climb is not very demanding so both the children and excursionist can join it. The St. Nicholas peak offers a beautiful view to the island Brač and its Vid Mountain, islands Korčula and Vis and to the mainland. There is a fire observation point at the peak, St. Nicholas chapel from the 15th century and a big stone cross built in 1997. St. Nicholas is the patron of travellers and sailors and the church is built to honour him at the site which oversees the land and sea routes. The small church at the highest peak of Hvar was mentioned for the first time in 1495 and it was named De Monte.
There are three approach routes lasting between 1:30 and 2:30 h. The descent requires app. 2 hours. Before the start, Mr Čiga shall explain to you all details regarding the climb and perform needed preparations.
At the east side of St. Nicholas chapel there are two boxes with registry books and a stamp of the peak. The metal stamp is situated at the south wall of the chapel.
